CHDR is an independent institute specializing in innovative, early-stage clinical drug research. We are located in Leiden, the Netherlands, and collaborate closely with Leiden University and the clinical departments of the Leiden University Medical Center (LUMC)

What does the job look like?

Do you want to make a major contribution to drug development? CHDR is at the forefront of testing new drug treatments and in particular for the Central Nervous System (CNS). With new drugs to be tested, new methods for testing them on humans are being developed. Also changing legislation and new user requirements ask for new functionalities. Since its inception 35 years ago, CHDR develops such new methods and new ways for collecting and evaluating clinical trial data. More specifically, the NeuroCart is a comprehensive test battery that is very sensitive to CNS drugs and is used to monitor drug efficacy. The NeuroCart is an inhouse testing platform and CHDR is currently developing a portable version of it.

As a medior developer you will take the lead in designing and implementing a brand-new software solution that will serve a portable version of the NeuroCart. The solution will have the newly developed portable NeuroCart at its core and will assure that the tests are conducted properly, the data is securely stored on the device and transmitted to the cloud while maintaining transparent pipelines. You will be in charge of designing the solution by defining the necessary building blocks based on the created specifications and requirements.

We explicitly invite medior software engineers that want to grow to the function of senior and are interested in having an impact in the development of the solution not only on the programming but also on the architecture level. You will be the main developer of the team with close contact with data and cloud engineers. External support can be hired on demand if necessary for specific parts of the project. Within CHDR, the Promasys team consists of 3 software developers with whom you can interact. Within the team, we are passionate about developing new solutions that deliver the required functionality in a simple and efficient way. What are the responsibilities for the position?

Your responsibilities will be to design and implement the solution that we will define together. You will be the centrepoint of the system architecture and the decisions when it comes to the implementation of the platform. You are also expected to contribute to the definition of the solution that will be implemented and think along in solving potential problems.Other responsibilities are to work out the technical details of the solution that will be developed and more specifically toDevelop functional and technical specifications.

  • Develop the software architecture of the system
  • Define a work plan for the solution
  • Develop the system from the ground up with emphasis on
  • Coding the different components
  • Co-develop a data-management strategy and plan and follow through with the implementation of this plan

Role requirements

We seek individuals with a keen eagerness to adapt to new challenges, thrive under pressure, and excel both independently and within a team environment. The ideal candidate possesses strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, coupled with proficiency in computer usage and a talent for seeing projects through from start to finish. Excellent communication skills, both written and oral in English, a strong work ethic, and a proactive, self-starting attitude are also highly valued traits.

The required technical skills are:

  • 3-5 years of software development and solution design/architect experience
  • Experience in architecture, and design of cloud-based and/or hybrid software
  • Experience with Agile development methods
  • Experience with .NET, relational databases, and Flutter/Dart are desired but not necessary. Willingness to learn the required languages/tools is a must
  • Experience with applications that comply with 21 CFR Part 11 is a plus

The salary ranges between €3500 and €4700, based on experience. We start with a contract for a year and after that we intend to extend it for an indefinite period of time. Next to that, we offer an end-year bonus (3.8% - 12%), 25 days of holidays (based on 40 hour week), 8% holiday allowance and travel expenses reimbursement or a bicycle scheme.
